Korte samenvatting |
This is the last of the 13 Courtney Novels. Smith himself didn’t see it strictly as a Courtney novel, it’s not in the mainstream of the series.
Sean Courtney, a veteran guerilla fighter and professional warrior, has become a full-time hunter in Zimbabwe. His clients Riccardo Monterro and his daughter Claudia coax him to hunt a legendary elephant across the border to Mozambique. This hunt will tear their safari apart and move them into the midst of a raging civil war. General China, head of the Renamo rebels, wants to push out the Marxist leaders in Mozambique and take over. After that he wants to crush Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, with the help of the white South African Government. To do this he will also need the help of Sean Courtney… The first half of the book is focused on the hunting aspect, whilst the second half deals with politics and battles. He educates on the happenings in Mozambique and Zimbabwe in the 1987’s, whilst also providing an interesting story about love, action and political tension. |
