Beautiful creatures is a book written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It is the first part in their The Caster Chronicles series. The book sold well internationally and made the New York Times bestseller list. MTV News named it a “series to watch” in 2010. In 2013 a movie was produced based on the book.
The story takes place in a small southern town called Gatlin. Ethan Wate lives there with his absent father and their tarot reading housekeeper. He can’t wait until he can leave the town, which he describes as suffocating. Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone else in the small town, and when she moves in Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her. Lena has a secret she is struggling to conceal – she and those in her family are “Casters” with magical powers. Ethan is determined to find out what their connection means. |

Kami Garcia werd geboren op 25 maart 1972 en is een Amerikaanse schrijfster van jeugdliteratuur en stripromans. Ze studeerde om het onderwijs in te gaan en heeft jaren lesgegeven. Beautiful Creatures was haar debuut in samenwerking met Margaret Stohl, en het duo schreef hierna nog drie andere delen in deze serie. Ze heeft ook samen met Gabriel Picolo drie delen voor de serie stripromans Teen Titans gemaakt.
Margaret Stohl werd geboren in 1967 en is een Amerikaanse schrijfster van jeugdliteratuur. Ze studeerde Engels aan de Stanford Universiteit. Haar debuut als schrijfster kwam in 2009 toen ze samen met Kami Garcia Beautiful Creatures schreef. |
