Korte samenvatting
This is the first book of the Black Wolves trilogy.

In the Sirinakian Empire there lies an area called The Hundred. This area was saved from warring demons by a nobleman from the Empire who made himself King of the Hundred. Captain Kellas of the legendary Black Wolves gets assigned to be the head of the King’s son’s personal guard, as well as for his daughter, Dannarah. She wants nothing else in life than to be a giant eagle rider instead of being married off.

Forty-four years later, The Hundred is a very different place. The palace is full of intrigue with at least three separate factions and there is civil unrest in the Kingdom. Also, the demons are back.

We learn that Dannarah gets her wish, becoming a Marshal of one of the eagle-riding groups. We also learn that her brother, Atani, died twenty-two years ago as he was murdered in a traitorous plot. Captain Kellas now lives in exile far away from the palace as he sees the death of the King as a personal failure. With the Black Wolves disbanded, things are getting out of hand.

Dannarah comes to Kellas with a plea; to rejoin the palace guard and save her nephew, the new King of The Hundred, Jehosh. Reluctant at first, Kellas accepts.

Over de auteur
Kate Elliot is the pen name of American fantasy and science fiction writer Alis A Rasmussen. She has released three titles under her real name, but because they didn’t become bestsellers additional publishers decided that it was important for her to use a new name to start fresh.

Under her pen name Kate Elliot her books have flourished.

Jacqueline Carey – ‘Black Wolves is a sweeping tale of loyalty and betrayal, ambition and intrigue, impelled by the mysteries that lie at its heart.’
Karen Miller – ‘Intricate, fascinating worldbuilding, twisty political intrigue, vivid characters to love and hate – this is Kate Elliot at the top of her epic fantasy game.’
