Korte samenvatting
Full title: Bottoms Up! A Pathologist’s Essay on Medicine and the Humanities.

Medical history is full of fascinating practices that have often, thankfully, fallen out of favor when we have learned better. While some of these were completely benign or just slightly misguided, other’s were darker and seedier than that. In this bundle Dr. Ober has collected a selection of his published essays that deal with this part of medical history.

In fourteen essays split over four distinct categories Dr. Ober discusses fascinating topics such as flagellation, hysteria and leprosy.

Every one of these essays is thoroughly researched and references other medical essays and other texts which might spark futher reading. This book is also full of black and white illustrations to further grip one’s attention.

Bottoms Up! Is a unique blend of history, biography and pathology that is a great read for experts and laymen alike.
