The last stormlord is a fantasy novel by Glenda Larke. It is the first part in her trilogy The Watergivers, sometimes also referred to as The Stormlord Trilogy.
Shale is an outcast from a poor village in the middle of a desert, where water is both life and a currency, of which Shale has none. What he does have, is a secret. It is what’s keeping him alive and may even save all the cities of the Quartern. That is, of course, if it doesn’t get him killed first. Terelle is a former slave fleeing her old life, who is taken in by an elderly painter. She learns the strange and also powerful secrets of his art and comes to fear that she traded her old life as a slave for something far more dangerous. The Stormlord lives in his tower. He brings the rain from the distant seas to his people, and without that, the people will surely die. He is dying however and there is no one to take his place.. Will Shale and Terelle find a way to save their civilization? |

Glenda Larke werd geboren in Australië en is een schrijfster van vooral fantasyboeken. Ze studeerde geschiedenis en onderwijs aan de Universiteit van West Australië. Daarna gaf ze les in Engels in onder andere Australië, Tunesië en Maleisië. In 1998 kwam haar eerste boek uit, Havenstar, onder haar getrouwde naam Glenda Noramly. Ze schreef ook meerdere fantasy trilogieën, en naast het schrijven van fantasyboeken schrijft ze ook non-fictie artikelen over conservatie van met name vogels. Deze verschijnen in Maleisische tijdschriften over natuur. Haar fantasyboeken werden bijna allemaal genomineerd voor Aurealis Awards, een Australische prijs voor fantasy schrijvers. Larke’s trilogie The Watergivers won de Sara Douglass Book Series Award in 2015. |
