The phantom of the opera is a classic by Gaston Leroux. In it, the Monsieurs Richard and Moncharmin are about to take over as managers of the Opera House. However as they soon discover, their predecessors have left them the Opera Ghost. The Ghost has various whims, which include but are not limited to major financial needs.

The new managers think it’s a strange joke gone too far, and despite warnings and repeated urging to comply with the demands, they do not. This sets off a chain of strange events and tragic events, which ends up with the prima donna Christine Daaé disappearing right in the middle of a performance….

The Phantom of the Opera has been made into several famous films and plays and is known around the world as a classic.

Over de auteur
Gaston Leroux was born on May 6, 1868 in Paris, France. He completed his law studies in Paris in 1889, and he had inherited millions of francs. He lived it up until he was close to bankruptcy. Afterwards, Leroux worked as a journalist, becoming an international correspondent for the famed Paris newspaper Le Matin. In that capacity he covered the 1905 Russian Revolution. In 1907 he started writing fiction, and in 1910 had published The Phantom of the Opera. Leroux died April 15 1927.
